Introducing FunTech — a Holiday HQ Workshop
Get ready to code, create and think like a game designer! Delivered by the trusted education experts at FunTech, these tech-powered workshops are perfect for curious minds who love the digital world.
FunTech not only prepares children for the digital future but also puts a huge smile on their faces through hands-on, interactive courses—ensuring that the ‘Fun’ always comes before the ‘Tech’.
Whether they're just starting out, or already pretty advanced, these workshops will enrich your child's imagination and bring out their talent. Each day is filled with exciting tech learning, set in a dynamic and engaging environment.
We are proud to partner with FunTech and have them deliver their specialist workshop at five Summer Holiday HQ venues. To fully immerse children in the programme, these camps are available via block bookings only and cost £80 a day.
Two Tech-Powered Adventures with FunTech
This summer, budding coders and new skill-seekers can dive into one of two immersive digital workshops with FunTech: Roblox Game Designer and Minecraft Mod Developer. In Roblox Game Designer, children will build and publish their own obstacle-packed multiplayer games using Roblox Studio. In Minecraft Mod Developer, they’ll transform the game they love by coding custom items, mobs, biomes and dimensions. Both courses are packed with creativity, problem-solving and real tech skills — perfect for young creators ready to level up.
FunTech Course Overview
Roblox Game Designer
From Obby Runner to Game Creator
In this hands-on workshop, children learn to design and build their own interactive multiplayer games using Roblox Studio — the official platform behind one of the world’s most popular gaming environments. Starting with an obstacle course (“Obby”), they’ll explore key game design principles such as physics, terrain sculpting, GUIs (Graphical User Interfaces), and dynamic elements like trap doors, moving platforms, springs and hinges.
As they advance, children unlock the power of multiplayer mechanics, checkpoints and player stats, learning how to publish their creations to share with friends and the wider Roblox community. It's a perfect blend of creativity, logic and real-world digital skills.
Course Features:
- Build & customise obstacle-style games
- Learn game physics, GUIs & multiplayer logic
- Sculpt landscapes & interactive environments
- Publish finished games to Roblox’s online platform
Minecraft Mod Developer
Player on Monday. Developer by Friday.
This exciting course takes Minecraft enthusiasts on a journey into modding — turning their favourite game into a personalised adventure. Using MCreator, children learn to design, build and test their own modifications, from custom tools and blocks to new creatures, biomes and even dimensions. They’ll explore logic and coding fundamentals like IF-THEN-ELSE, as well as event-driven design to create game elements that react to player actions.
As their skills grow, children experiment with real-world principles (like gravity and energy), while enhancing their builds using textures, effects and unique in-game functions. The week culminates in a fully playable, personalised Minecraft mod pack to enjoy long after the workshop ends.
Course Features:
- Create and code custom mobs, items and worlds
- Learn game logic using event-driven programming
- Explore STEM through Minecraft mechanics
- Build a complete mod pack to play and share
